I mentioned before that Anthony and I sold out of quite a bit of stuff at the Jackson Comic Con. This includes the necklaces…or as the manly people call them “dog tags!” I guess Dog tags is a bit more fitting considering their shape and size. Any way in preparation for San Diego Comicon, we are trying to get plenty of stuff together so yall can walk out of there with some good Berona merchandise! In doing so we made another 30 necklaces, 15 Mitsure and 15 Tuchodo. It doesn’t sound like much, especially since we will be selling to around 160,000 people. However, I asure you, when it comes down to actually making them…30 feels like a thousand! We even thought about raising the price from $10 to $15 but I think we are going to keep them the same low price for San Diego. It will be first come, first serve.
These necklaces are not actually from the book, unlike the Amity Necklaces which were actually designed from the pictures in the book. The dog tags are designed from the symbols that the characters wear as opposed to the actual necklaces…if that makes any since.

The Mitsura and Tuchodo characters all bear the symbols on their heads or on their uniforms. So we tried to figure out a way that we could aslo wear their symbols at future cons. This is the early stages we sketched out when trying to figure out a solid design.

What started out simple turned into a painful process. We cut strips of wood into dog tag chips. Then Dremeled the corners and rounded them off. after that we had to dremel two grooves in the top and bottom so the leather string would fit snug into the wood. This was tough because it was SO easy to screw this part up and if we did we have to start back over with another raw chip. This is also the case when it came to wood burning the symbols into the wood. It was so easy for the burner to fall into a soft spot on the wood messing the whole symbol up…back to the beginning AGAIN! anyway, if we got past the grooves and the wood burn, we were in a good spot. Staining the wood was easy. We either stained it mahogany or ebony depending on the symbol. Yes, the actual string part of the necklace was a pain as well. No, the 4 bones did NOT come pre-drilled. So we had to dremel out the center of the bone so the cord could be passed through. And dont even get me started on the clasps , even though you cant see them in the picture…They were a pain as well. Anyway, here they are and we hope you like them becasue I dont know how many more we will be making in the future. Maybe we can get some little asain children to help us with some…Ewwww, thats not right!

We even put them into fun little packages, just as a little added bonus! Come on, everyone loves when things come in a package!
get’m while they last.
